
About the Course
This talk/demonstration takes attendees on ‘a walk’ through the processes involved in making a Korean decorated celadon pot. Beginning with raw clay as taken from the earth we will follow the process of refining and producing workable clay, pot forming, firing, decoration, and glazing. Reference to Korean geology and ceramic chemistry will be included. The lecture/demonstration is intended to assist attendees to have a more sophisticated understanding of ceramic pieces that they may view or handle. This session is a very good preliminary to the Focus on Korean Ceramics: A Tour of the British Museum.
